I am looking into keeping a couple of baby blue tongues and read that you can use metal for an enclosure. I have a metal box 750mm long x 320mm wide x 250 high. with a basking light at one end would it get too hot? Also is this too small? and if I take them out side three times a week will they nedd uv?
Any info would be great thanks.

I believe the 'metal enclosure' refers to an outside pit...I think you will bake your bluey in a metal box

Looks good, put some grass clippings or similar in one of the hides - insulates reasonably well and they like to hide in it (been a very long time since I had my blueys but that always worked well)

That enclosure looks alright for adults.I would keep the juvie Bluey's inside for their first Winter though.

I'm sure it will be...
Mitch is right though, it is generally recommended that young Blueys be kept inside over their first winter...

Hi Mitch,
Do you think it would be alright to keep them in their pit during the day and bring them in at night in winter?

Hi
I have both my Bluey's inside at the moment as I don't have space for an outdoor enclosure.I would just keep them inside for a while as juvie reptile's are a bit more prone to having health problems. What species of Bluey are you looking at getting?

I bought two easterns a couple of days ago and have been keeping them inside in a big shallow plastic container with a desk lamp for heat. I moved them into the pit today as I dont have any uv.
I bought them from the local high school that had them housed in an open court yard in the middle of their libary, so they have been out side since they were born.
The breeder told me to keep them out side and that he has had little sucess keeping them indoors.
