Bredli growth rates

I have a great double enclosure with only one teensy little Stimmie in one side. It has a tall, narrow enclosure (30cm x 30cm x 100cm) with heatlight and I'm wondering about putting a Bredli in there. I know it won't be big enough for a fully grown Bredli but how long from hatchling stage will she last in there before I need a bigger enclosure? I've no idea how fast they grow (I realise growth rates depend on feeding etc, but just generally)

Hi Jess,

My Bredl is only 3 months old, but is 61 cm long and 60 g. I think they are over a metre by the end of the first year. My girl uses her branches and lots of the vertical space, but my boy likes the floor more. A 30 x 30 floor would be too small for him to stretch out, although the vertical space is better.

Not nearly as nice as snakes, but spiny leaf insects would go nicely in that space!

i was looking on pet link today and i saw an add for a 85cm 18 month old bredli and it must have been neglected or has stunted growth because there normally like twice that at that age

LOL so true hozy6!!!

So it looks like a Bredli would be OK in that space for a year at the most...

I am thinking about moving the Stimmie into a totally new enclosure and making the double enclosure into a single one. That way it would have an extra 80cm x 80cm plus the tall (100cm high) side - and the depth is actually about 40 cm throughout. That would do an adult wouldn't it?

C'mon - they aren't that bad! I don't own any, but often take care of them for friends. I also show them to my science classes at school. It really grosses the kids out and fascinates them when I hold the insects (major points with boys). They love the way the insects sway, pretending to be leaves blowing in the wind. They are also shocked at how soft the bodies are.

Hope all goes well for ya Jess

Rocky my bredli who is about 11mths old was 1.1 m going by his last shed skin!!! He hasnt got that big of a girth yet around the diameter of a 50c piece but getting fatter every week!!!

A fully grown Bredli can be anywhere between 1.8 and 2.5 meters long I think some get to 3 meters to!!!

That's a load of bollocks. Just cause a snake is smaller than another snake of the same age does not mean it has been neglected.
