I use marine carpet as my preferred substrate, as easy as newspaper but much better aesthetically. |

Heres my opinion. I use BC in my herps and rats.
I dont really like the plastic carpet. It looks so artificial and stark.
Perhaps they should manufacture BC in different colours.
I love tradition too but it has no place in the care of captive animals as most traditional methods were harsh, cruel and barbaric. We do learn from them though.

Is there any benefits involved? easier to clean? I'm interested in why you'd go to the extra expense? I'm not bagging this at all, don't get me wrong, I'm interested in why it could be benefitial. I personally agree it does look better than newspaper. |

The tradition I was referring too is that every time Breeder's Choice is mentioned in a thread, Phil chimes in with the line "What is BC?" <--- just for you

As for different colours of BC, I use food dye, sprayed on with a spray bottle and then dried in the sun (during summer) or baked in the oven (during winter).

Friend(similar disposition) and I were taking a break from the forge one day and saw an add for a circus for sale,. we quipped about buying it until the hammerman said we could call it The Grumpiest Show on Earth.
I know, Phils comment is the tradition. I thought boat comments might give a hint to my real thoughts though.
Rule,. never post before morning coffee.

He wouldn't kum out while BC was on the ground. Plain newspaper he was fine with, maybe he just didn't like the feel of it? |
