hehe i was waiting for someone to comment on that, i just didn't want to .

sxe
Diamond always do better when kept outside, it's not a question about size.
There was a thread about a few days ago.

There is no facts about DPS. Some say it's all about the UV...the parents of mine are over 10 years old...never have had UV...and are in great shape...

Being inside or outside has no bearing on the condition of the snake...

I don't keep diamonds anymore, but when i did colours were always brighter whe they were kept outside, diamonds are the only python that i 've belive gets any real benefit from natural sunlight.
Bigguy told us of his experience with them in that other thread and most diamond breeders will say the same, they live longer if kept outside.

...they've never been outside?

After listening to Bob's advice, I have decided to build an outside aviary for my Diamonds pythons.

Just make sure that your outside aviary is secure! We've had members lose snakes from outside enclosures due to theft!

Just on DPS.

Can anyone point me to some papers on it written by herpetologists, (rather than reptile keepers)? Although I heed the annecdotal evidence of keepers and give my Diamond time in the sun, I still haven't been able to come across any scientific literature, and I was under the impression that SXE's statement about there being 'no facts' was true.

As far as I'm concerned, the complications that are routinely noticed by keepers of the species could be classed as "facts".

Oh and to answer your question Nicole (sorry), I don't know of any papers on this subject, but maybe get in contact with National Parks, Zoos, etc and see what they have to say. Bob may know of some too.

Hi Nicole, Papers by herpetologist would have no more credence than those by keepers. In fact keepers and and biologist working together would come up with more. herpetologists dont generally study virus. There are plenty of papers available on the American sites

Heres a few search results

Thanks Peter,
The search you've got there is for IBD rather than DPS, when I try DPS in that search engine, there are no results returned. I thought IBD and DPS were two different animals entirely?

Thanks anyway, I'll try some American sites.

From the sounds of peoples experiments with bredli and UV it seems like they benefit from it too.If UV improves the colour of your animals it can only be a good thing.........
