breeding rats

i am planning to breed rats to freeze once they grow to a fuzzie / popper size. Does anyone know a good way to put them out of the misery before i freeze them?

I usually break their neck at the base of the skull at that size but i wont describe how since it needs to be done correctly, for larger ones grab the base of their tail swing them round and wack their heads on a hard surface, kills them instantly, not a fun job

whatever u do dont freeze them alive, i have heard of ppl doing this

U can use CO2 to gas them if u cant handle the phisical method. But its alot of mucking around if u dont have many rats.

no i wouldnt imagine so as it only sends CO2 which is in the air we breath anyways. I understand other people on this site use this method as i found this link on this site.

I use the same method as described on the above link, (baking soda)i used to use dry ice and water when i got it for free from work very effective but a little costly if you were to purchase.

i only find it worth breeding rats if you have a large collection, otherwise the cost of keeping, feeding, the time needed to clean them out etc just isnt worth the hassle............plus they stink !
also another problem for me personally is......i just would'nt be able kill them !

also, pinkie's (mice) cost me 4 1/2p each......so it isnt really worth it for me
