im about to start on a new enclosure for my baby jungle, and once finished i will then start on another for my spotted python. Just wanted to know if there is any particular wood I should use? and major design implements I should know about etc??
The jungle itself (recently named Ivy) is only 2 weeks old and lucky to be 20cm in length. I was thinking maybe just a 2ft x 1ft x 1ft size until she is ready for something bigger. Or should I make it bigger or smaller to start with?
Also, being arboreal and liking to climb, Is there anything really cool to use inside for her to climb on? I heard if you use branches of a tree you should boil them first?
Any help I can get before I start would be appreciated.
Photo of her is hard to obtain at the moment as she is very snappy and I don't like pulling her out at the moment as she is about to shed.
However if anyone is interested a photo of my spotted is about to be posted on my introduction thread.
Thanks

That would be the way to go. |

Take a real good look up under the lid for any escape possibilities... I have had one escpae overnight out of such container.... Luckily the first place I looked she was there. |

A temp enclosure IMHO, would be a click clack with a piece of dowel for now. It's cheaper in the long run, but if you want to build, that would be a personal preference
The use of Branches - either place in an oven or place in a black plastic garbage bag and leave in the sun for a week.
As for snappiness - depends on the personality of the snake. Just let her settle down for a couple of weeks and avoid disturbing or handling her in that time especially if she is about to shed. They generally settle in that time and become amenable to being handled.

| | | | What the others have said is right, Keeping it in a click clack is the best option. I have personally found that the 7litre sistema brand to be great, you know the lid has a tight seal. I made the mistake of putting my snake in a larger enclosure because i thought i was doing the right thing, but found my maccy to be very stressed, it wouldn't eat and was snappy. I used small boxes as hides and it loved it. it also fits paper towels in it perfectly for basic substrate.
enjoy your snake.

JMO Good Luck | That's really good to know, I was a bit worried that I've have a hard time making my jungle docile. | | |
