Can I have two hatchlings in one enclosure

Good morning everyone. I am excited as today I am selling a few aquariums to make money and room for new herp additions. Would it be ok to put another hatchling in with the MD hatchling I already have. If so....do I need to get another MD or could I get a different python (say a Bredli or Coastal. I have read here that they interbread so I will be sure to get another female, that said they take a few years to get to the breading stage don't they and by that time I will have bigger and separate homes for them.

Daniel,

Its not really a good idea to house them together
better off keeping them seperate.
Especially with a new addiction to your collection.

If you have any future breeding aspirations you
should really consider buying another of the
same sub-species and or species.

new additions should be quarantined away from others in your collection anyway!

Hello Daniel,
Its not a wise thing to do as there is a possibilty that one may eat the other, and
then there is the quarentine issue to worrie about and i dont think you will want to
put the life or health of you other hatchie at risk. It is a bad idea to mix other breeds as well
{jmo} we keep everything seperate in our collection untill mating and any new aquisitions
are housed in another building for at least 6 or more months

Thanks

Thank you guys, I suspected answers like that, just read the other night of a very zealous member (della91) who did the same although looking back she did separate them for a short time. I think I may adopt my next one.

No Daniel thats not what you want. That hatchling ATE its cagemate.

Whatever you do dont keep hatchlings together. Not only do you run the risk of introducing disease but one snake may end up eating its cagemate ...

I think you are mistaking this for a gravid snake , it is a hatchling that has eaten its cage mate , not some thing you want to happen .....

Oh....

[quote=CodeRed;1141471]No Daniel thats not what you want. That hatchling ATE its cagemate.

I thought it looked a little strange, so there is not much sibbling love amongst pythons then, unless it involves eating each other?!
