Yeah they can definately get stressed especially if its a hatchling, try to only handle it for short periods so it gets used to it slowly

Also, don't pull a snake out of it's enclosure just for a quick fondle if it's coiled and obviously sleeping or wants to remain undisturbed. I'll only hold my snakes if they come out to me when i slide open the enclosure doors.
