Ceramic Heat Emmitters

Gday all. Just wondering if I need a special fixture for ceramics, or if the basic light fittings from mitre 10 will be allright? Also what wattage would i need for an enclosure 88cmw/39cmd/94cmh?

Cheers,

Pete

RE: Ceramic Heat Emmitters

You definitely need a ceramic fitting for them, they get very hot. Hard to say exactly but a 60 or 80 watt should be ideal.

what about uv fluro's? Do you need certain fittings for them, or just any fluro housing?

No just ordinary flouro fittings.

You may wish to check out the July special at the Herp Shop. Basically it is a combo of everthing you need, a top quality ceramic, the right fitting and a cage .

The Black-Nite Ceramic Heaters rock!
I'm currently using them for my Coastals & Olive & will never use anything else!

Depends on the fluoro. The new compacts that URS have just brought out are awesome, even more so in a small enclosure like yours as they can be easily fitted inside when compared to a batton style. They come in 5 and 10% UVB to suit your needs. They also do ceramics in 60 and 100watts. You can't get ceramics in between unfortunately. You are better off with slightly larger wattage and hooked up to a microclimate thermostat you can't go wrong.
