Welcome
Childrens are a great frist snake, they grow to a little over a metre if well fed. I have a adult pair housed in a melamine enclosure with a glass front that is by memory 800 x 500 x 500 mm. Hatchies are best housed in click clacks. Although they are terrestrial they will regularly utilise a climbing branch in the cage so I recommend a little bit of height in the cage. I have found them to be very docile but like all species you will always get some snappy individuals.
Not too sure of life span but Im guessing about 20 years
Hope this helps.

Hi
According to John Wiegel's "Care of Australian Reptiles in Capativity" a cage of at leat 600 mm for 1 - 2 adult specimens. Personally i like to give mine room to move about. My 8 mth childreni is in a fish tank that size. Eventually going to move it into a slightly bigger one.

my brother in law is a cabnet maker by trade and he was going to make a triangle shape one that will screw into the corner of the room my concearn is that it wont be big enough when it is fully grown. if you can picture it it comes along each wall 500mm out 100mm at each end and back accross the front and is about 700mm high with a framed perspect door. it has 5 mm ventilation holes down each side and accross the top. also are 5 mm holes to big for a hatchling
