Question Choice of Reptile Products in Australia. Are you Happy?

Hello everyone. I am looking for feedback on the current range of reptile products we have here available for purchase in Australia.
Do you think it is a sufficient range?
If not then what would you like to see, is there anthing that you have seen else where available that you would like to see available for purchase here in Australia. Be it cages or simple everyday care needs anything.
I just think it would be interesting to know.

Cheers

I'd like to see aspen bedding more freely available as well as some better tubs (Rubbermaid etc) and reptile specific heat panels.

the needs for rep owners in different parts of aus are different. Up here in darwin i don;t need to use any heat sources etc infact all of the rep products i need are enclosures and rats so for me they are fine, but maybe not so for other keepers. So i think the questions you ask need to be slightly more defined.

hanks for the input Waruikazi. I havekept it so broad that it does apply to everyone. You didn't need to suggest anything becasue you were happy with what you have, or is available. The person next door to you might not be happy with cages available to him or her. This is why I have kept it broad and hopefully we continue to get positve feedback like what you have just provided.

Cheers

I would like to see some hatchling rack systems and rack systems in general, that are more competitively priced than what is available now.

The biggest improvement should probably be on the prices... i can get stuff from America for much less than i can get it here. And shipping isn't too much different either. Maybe if there were more Aussie brands we'd be able to cut back the prices a bit....? Someone start a company!!!!

I think Sengir is one step ahead of you, claire, lol

My only input would be prices, I've never bought an enclosure in my life, but filling them with heat cord, waterbowls, light cages, etc is damn expensive if you want quality stuff......even though I get most of my stuff half price.

Hey, all

I'm new to the forum and bought my first pair of stimmies, about 8 weeks ago. I live in Western Australia and from what I can see, on line, the rest of Australia is miles ahead of where we are. I'm hoping to bread my Stimmies, next year, and expand. I guess since our laws have only allowed us to keep them since 2003, we're still starting off. We have very limited options at pet shops and it's usually much cheaper to buy from over east. So anything that offers a choice would be great.

We are looking at building a few of our own enclosures next year.

Cheers

Warren

knowing the 'possibility' of what is to be bought int he herp industry, i would say the availability or products is quite small, although most python keepers would find it suitable.

products such as reptisuns, are disapearing, because cheaper less efficient bulbs are being made (we can buy these for $15 USD, and get them here, but there still $40-60 AUD??

megarays, SOMEONE needs to be selling these, they are the BEST UVB source int he world.. there more expensive, but who cares, i say health over money... www.reptileuv.com

liquid calcium, jumpstart, dragon bites, grape vine (sandblasted) various ornaments, hides, and lamp variations. NO MORE CALCI-SAND (calci-death)

i want to see, the suppliments such as repcal, which are $5 USD, yet still $15+ AUD. the moulded vivariums like URS (yet MUCH cheaper.. duh)

if your a company, thinking of getting new or more varied herp products.. check out some US herp stores.. bigappleherps.com http://www.reptiledirect.com/ etc.

i also want to see feeder insects, superworms (zophobia moro (sp?)) pheonix worms, waxworms, silkworms, hornworms, butterworms etc. (i dont know how you'd get these IN to the country, but SOMEONE try.. these are ALL very good nutrition wise, and add ecelent variety.. )

our herp industry is 'primitive' compared to other countries, although YES, US breeders etc go over the top.. but a large majority of these products are very good, and CNA be cheaper..

sengir, if you are looking to expand your product range, send me a PM, and ill give you a list of hwt i think you SHOULD get.. lol..

shippings not too bad, and considering you (possibly are) a company, or looking to be, you should be able to buy directly from the supplier eg. T-rex, ZOO-MED, EXO-terra, ESU (alot of there products are crappy, although some good) Bob from reptileuv, and bigapple, and possible mulberryfarms.com for silks, horns, pheonix eg.

i'd also like to see repti-hammocks, and alot of the logs (real, and fauxe), and corkbark more readily available. all we need is SOMEONE to order them in.. its not that hard..

to tell the truth we are missing out on ALOT of the products and feeders!!
