Hi there
I am hoping to get a bredli before the end of the year. As most of you know i just got a spotted python but that went straight in to a enclosure, so i'm not 100% sure of the click things.
Now i have seen the Click Clack in the shops i am only able to find, either the smallish ones or huge ones. Is there anyone container that can be used other than the ones with the blues bits.
I thought of one of the plastic fish type tanks, with the vent like roof. Is this a good idea at all.
Also im going to get a 15w heat cord, do u need a thermostat for that also as for tape to keep it in place, whats the best sort. for example the one used to go around wiring is that ok.
Sorry about the questions guys. I have read so much, my head hurts so i thought i ask you's directly for the advise.
Cheers
Nikki

DO NOT USE TAPE OF ANY KIND IN YOUR ENCLOSURES. The fish tank lids can be forced off those fish tank's by your snake. I would suggest a heat mat but up to you. Click clack type containers are available in all sizes, try bunnings, warehouse, and those type places for ones with a catch to hold the lid on

Sorry i wasn't planning on using tape in the enclosure, i was going to tape it underneath the click clack. I thought heat mats over heat. I have a heat mat it is an exo terra 8 watt 20 x 20cm, do i need to use a thermostat with that or can i just monitor it with a thermometer. I have heard that witht he heat cords you don't need a thermostat.

I personally have never used Thermo's for my Click Clacks, I just make sure one end is heavily vented. If it is to cold they won't move off the heat mat to hot and they will move toward the vent's I just figure it out from there

So basically, just to be on the safe side, i just need a click clack and my heat mat. Put plenty of holes for ventilation and i'm set.
Do you monitor the temp at all? Also what's the best size click click for a bredli?
Sorry another ? Is the heat mat i got ok?

O.k the heat mat should cover no more than 1/3 the enclosure, can be less not a problem with less. I tend to ventilate my cold end far more than the end with the heat mat. Optimum temp 28-32 is all good but I don't really monitor it that much in the wild the variance can be much different. The enclosure should be no more than the total length of the snake at the time, if they are young. They will stress to much if it is much bigger. Plenty of hides is good for young pythons, definatly one on your heat mat, and one at the cold end but for young ones I often scruntch up a piece of news paper and then pull it out a bit so that they can go under it through it and so forth. What type of bredli are you getting and how old/big is he.

Yeah i lost a childrens and i have a spotted which is more my husbands it seems to like him more. I'm addicted to this already. A bredli is my ultimate snake and i thought it doesn't really matter if i have one hatchling or more as long as i learnt my lesson and can look after them which is no problem.

If a bredli is your ultimate I'd spend the extra and get a hypo, or cherry. You will have them a long time. At least you won't regret it later

I would love to spend that extra money but with two young kids and i'm a stay at home mum. I work two nights a week and it would take me ages to save up. Besides i do really like the normal ones and then i can spend that extra on the kids or save it up to get the enclosure for when it is an adult.
