And i was told that i dont need a heat mat or anything like that where i live which is in brisbane and the temp is AROUND 25c most of the time is that right or wrong? And 1 last question do i leave a water bowl in the click-clack which i have it in at the moment?
PS, sorry about the bad spelling |

Yes, you do need a heatmat as you need to provide a temperature gradient with a hot end at 32*c...
Yes, always have a waterbowl in the enclosure...
Mitch, many of these questions could be answered with a little more research on your behalf prior to purchasing the snake - can I suggest buying at least one, and probably more, books on keeping pythons...they are a great start... Care of Australian Reptiles in Captivity by John Weigel is a great starter book for you...

You need a heat mat, a click clack is preferable, a cage is ok provided the snake is eating well and cannot escape. Sorry i have to run, someone else can clue you in on the rest.

Hide at both warm and cool ends and a porcelain water bowl from Foodland. Under the warm end there is a heat mat covering about one third of the bottom of the container.

Fester's setups are perfect. Heatmat under 1/3 or 1/4 of the clickclack, a hide each end, and waterbowl at the opposite end from the heatmat.... Pretty simple really, but without the heat he wont last long! Get in ya mums ear mate!
Good luck |

Really tho, snakes are pretty affordable pets - a click clack $20; heat mat $30; $40 for mice, newspaper for substrate and a few rocks and branches from your garden... That is your snake sorted for a whole year!!! I can't think of ANY other pets that are that cheap and easy! If you can't stretch to that expense, then you should just save up for 6 months before getting your snake.
After a year it will need a bigger enclosure, but I don't think a glass fishtank is a good enclosure for a snake.
I think the reason you aren't getting responses is because you are asking questions that are answered over and over on this and other websites. Invest in a couple of books, do your internet research and THEN ask questions. I agree that you get different reponses every person you ask, but you just need to keep looking and work out what information seems to be repeated most often and go with that.
Don't give us newbies a bad name!
EDIT: Didn't realise you *already* had the snake! Yeah, you should really have done some more research before going ahead and buying one! |

Surely the animals welfare is worth the price of a heat mat, you only need a small one, say 8W for now. | | | |
