coastal changing colour when eating?

hi all, i just came back from a mates place, who has a 5ft male coastal. i noticed that when i feed him, 1 large rat defrosted, the whole underside of him changes to a bright red color from head to tail. when finished eating he returns to his normal colour. he has had no health problems, and has never been breed before. can any one shed some light on what may be going on . thanks ash

RE: coastal changing colour when eating?

It is blood flushing to the surface during the exertions and excitement of eating. Quite normal for some and as long as it goes away again afterwards, not a problem.
