Common Wheezing

Gday folk

My diamond gets a wheezing (sounds like when a human has a whistling nose) everyone now and then, it comes and goes. No mucous, mouth is okay, doesn't appear to be and bubbles or anything similar, I am familiar with URTI and there is nothing else indicating that. Eating fine, not skinny or anything.

Has anyone else experienced anything like this? 12months or so ago when I first got her, she had Anitbiotics cause she was in a bad way, she has come along way. Th Abos was cause of this slight wheeze.

Any info would be great.

I have a couple of carpets that wheeze or whistle sporadically. They have done it since hatchlings and are fit, eating well and are 4 and 5 years old each now.

One of them does it more than the other, Particularly around shed time. Once the nose plugs come away he clears up nicely.

The other one is more obvious when moving around you and using her muscles or constricting. Due to the lung structure of a snake, I don't find this surprising at all.

I have no qualms or concerns about either of them. As I said, they are fit and healthy, have never had RI. Possibly this whistling or wheezing noise is to do with the nasal structure internally. A slight bump the wrong way, interior of the nasal passages, could cause whistling or wheezing when breathing.

Just keep an eye on your snake and see if you can pin it down to a time or activity.

I have a carpet named "Weeza" for the same reasons as Wrasse mentioned, he's had it on and off since a juvie without any sign of RI's or dust problems

I've seen it with snakes coming up to a shed. My womas used to do it a bit but they seem to have stopped. My large carpet did it last time he was about to shed. I couldn't for the life of me work out what the funny noise was He is as healthy as an ox and eats like a pig... Funny how I compare reptiles to mammals when I try to explain their health and eating habits
