33.8 right on the hot corner. I have the pad underneath a 3mm piece of glass, and there is about 10-15mm of BC between snake and plastic.

More contradictions but I will happily let my tubs or vivs get up to 40C at the hot end, as long as it is 27C or lower at the cool end.

UUH. I am doing mabe something wrong. Mine hatchlings have 27 cold end and 31 hot.
They have oportunity to bake under globe where is hotter than 31, mabe 35 right under globe.
Surprisingly they stay more in colder side of enclosure.

I agree Mags that this is quite an acceptable method of heating. My Coastal's enclosure does get around 40-ish on hot days and never a problem at this stage. I think the more choice the better. As long as they can get out of the real high temps there's no dramas.

I bet they just spend longer time warming under the globe Mr Slate, you cant be doing too much wrong, if your snakes are happy.

Yes Instar they look happy. But many of us know by now, that when we notice that something is wrong with our pet, usually is to late and animal is getting in to health trouble.
It is big responsibility to take care of animals.
