Crocodile culling

I was watching the news and it said some thing about a crocodile culling in the Solomon Islands. And they have already killed 12 crocs. The biggest was killed b'caus it ate a pig.How stupid.Do you have any more info you could add 2 this story. It was on 10 news.I get so angry when i here a story like this. This happened 2 another.Like "I killed a croc because it stalked my Son"(killed one b'caus it stalked at a non-striking distance)And they got all the cops and some army officers just 2 kill something that wasnt doing any thing 2 harm us
Cheers

correction, it wasn't doing anything to harm you. what if your family was at threat? have you ever been to the soloman islands? that 'pig' might have been the only asset they had.

thats like them saying about you, its only a car, or job or food.

it sounds terrible but think of it from there point of view, they prob dont have as safe surrounds as us

by saying so what, its just a pig proves your maturity in this subject

I think you will find many people coexist with crocodiles in their territory. Doesn't mean go on a killing rampage...

if it ate the pig, that means there is a large croc around human dwellings. not saying they should have killed it, they could have moved it, but moving a croc IS dangerous, and could have caused absolute havoc.

yep, there's some big crocs there. we had a local one that we watched on picket out front of the GBR. when we were out on the weathered coast the locals showed us how they attracted them in by banging 2 rocks together underwater. pigs are used like money over there, dont sound like much here but over there losing a pig is a big deal.

Or a shtload of humans in the crocs territory. Killing a croc on Solomon Island is pretty pointless when there are many others around the island

mate the thing is would u be cut if u were in poverty and all u had was a pig for a profit if u needed it and didnt have any money thats like someone without a job car and other things were never gonna stop it from happening im not saying it is the best way to handle the situation but they really cant be blamed for there lack of knowledge on the way to move a crocodile it not like the most important thing over there they need to address sraight away well thats my 2 cents

hozy6- If people are on Solomon Island, they should know that crocs are in the water, especially if they are living their. If you live on an island where crocs are found, you have to accept that they may take livestock, etc unless you cage the livestock.
I love the beach, i get in the water every day, whether it be surfing, kiting, whatever. If i was attacked and killed by a shark or croc, i would not want it killed, as it's their environment and what good would it do. Killing the shark/croc would be pointless and the only reason for it is anger, it achieves nothing.

So what happens when the next croc shows up, and the next, and the next, should they set up a permanent base to sniper off crocs as they come close to the island? Or just kill the lot, then they can be sure it won't happen again.

You sound like a pretty naive person RedEyeGirl, you cannot say that kind of stuff, that pig could have been an entire families livelihood, perhaps you should think about how it would be for them to lose their source of income, although it may be quite easy to criticize them while the biggest problem you might face at the moment in your life is a pimple!
