Everyone needs to stop whinging about fuel. Man it goes up 5 cents and it is the end of the world. Work it out people in a 60 litre tank that is like $3. Get over it.

I have had enough of all the carry on about it to be quite honest.

Live life, don't let it slip you by.
People do get too upset about an increase of 5c per litre, but I think you'll find that in the last six months petrol has gone up just a little more than that, and the weekly cycle fluctuates by more like 10c per litre. You'll also find that in your state, petrol is much cheaper than what most of the rest of the people in the country are paying for it, so keep that in mind before you tell everyone off for whinging about their financial struggles.

dont forget that the price filters through down to everything. Fuel prices affect everything, not just the family budget. The truckies that transport everything have to cover the cost=price increase etc.
I am not complaining personally as I am quite fortunate in my position (I worked hard though to get there) but can see how it affects people as I have been in a situation in the past where every dollar counts.

I started this thread to see how it affects HERPS and numbers people keep, feeding costs etc, so how about talking about that?
I ask as a mate is breeding his own rats/mice and is considering going larger scale as the cost to buy is too high but then all the rat food etc is getting dearer due to drought and transport costs.

Pet shop prices is no excuse for live feeding. I am breeding my own rodents but I still euthanase them, freeze them and feed dead rodents to my snakes.

As for the original question, yes it is effecting me - only because while I was working I booked up a few snakes to buy, now I am not working. All the animals I want come from Sydney so I either got to get there or pay freight. I just shut down my business and still going ahead to get 2 snakes next weekend that I committed myself to, but that is going to have to be all. It isn't just buying the animals, its having the enclosures to put them. My snakes are larger specimens so can't just chuck them in tubs - BUT, I am not interested in the smaller pythons so am prepared to wear the cost of keeping the bigger ones - just gotta slow things down, thats all. I would never trade my snakes - will just have to give up that block of chocolate & give it to the snakes

I beleive the fuel costs that was the main blame for my business failing. Just couldn't compete with Big W and 2 crazy bargain stores when they now buy from our suppliers because small pet shops spending had slowed, so the wholesalers no doubt had resorted to allowing the big stores to move in and they undercut everyone.

Hiya Sadji, I was originally from Vic, I do know how much fuel is. I live 40 kilometers from my work place and currently spend a third of my wage on fuel each week. Doesn't leave much after the mortgage, bills and food.

Yes the flucutaion is annoying, but it is something that occurs. Without it, prices would never go down. As for telling people off, I doubt I did that. I merely pointed out the facts. It is quite disconcerting that people who are far better off than me whinge and complain about the prices of things. I may be in QLD and get fuel 8 cents cheaper than the other states but this does not make me better off. I live in FNQ where we get slugged the transport costs on top of food making a lamb roast once a month a luxury considering a 1 kg roast typically costs up $21.

Unlike the priced payed by people living in Melbourne and surrounding suburbs.
