Dark time...

Hello, just wondering how much dark time (lights out) a python would need?
Will they get too cold? Ive read up on everything, and then my other half asked me if we leave the lights on all the time and I realised I hadnt read this anywhere!!

Thanks in advance...

Most pythons are nocturnal so you don't even need lights at all...
Get a heat mat.

Get a ceramic heat lamp, they give out heat, not light

A heat lamp gives the snake the opportunity to bask during the day just as they would in the wild. Generally a pecies local to your area or an area generally colder than where you are will not need any night time heating but it doesnt hurt to have a heat mat or even a red light (reptiles can not see in this wavelength so it still seems dark to them) if you feel they may get too cold at night. The red light will also allow you to watch nocturnal species as they go about their business in the "dark".
