I leave mine in a container with some hot tap water..... Would need to replace the water a couple of times....
But I find just tap water, they dont get to the stage of busting open.... I think boiling water makes the skin soft...

Whatever you do (and I use the plastic bag/hot water routine) DO NOT use a microwave oven. You can get hot spots inside the rodent which can do real damage to your snake.

For my Jungle, I put the mice in a glass of hot tap water for 5-10 min, then towel it off and feed it to him. Doing it this way also gives the snake a drink at the same time. I never air thaw my mice to room temp any more, as I suspect one of my snakes got a bacterial infection and died, due to a rat being left to thaw too long. Air thawing exposes the rodent to too many risks, flies landing on it carry all sorts of nasties. Hot water is generally the most accepted way.
