I always just tip the frozen rats into a bucket of hot water
| Same here. I give 'em a bit of a slap on paper towell to remove excess water & feed them off.
If there's a simpler way to do it, then let me know.

I think that way a snake won't get stuck on the one diet item?????? All of my snakes will take any of the above foods so if I run out of one or the other it's not an issue. I dry them off a bit on an old towel so stuff doesn't stick to them. A prey item consists of a fair percentage of water anyway so i don't know how beneficial the extra water ration on a wet item would be. |

interesting the different approaches...

and i was merely asking if it was POSSIBLE for the water to diminish the smell in some way. I was thinking that the water could bind with the smell/scent/taste molecules, diluting them or even stopping them from travelling as far as they usually would. but im no scientist so i dont know definitively

what i am saying is that i have a jungle python that not take food, rats or mice when they have been defrosted directly in water. whereas my other snakes will. I am trying to determine why.
