Diamond clutch

My dad rang me this morning , one of his diamonds laid a clutch of eggs , neither of us even knew she was gravid , any way knocked up a quick incubator and grabbed them out an hour ago .
Read all i can today and hopefully all will go well as this is my first go at hatching , ( well helping any way as they are not mine )
Got roughly 15 eggs all look ok , the single one was in the water pond .

used vermiculite 50/50 ( was not dripping when sqeezed )
Heat mat set at 28
thermo
esky
any input / help would be good .
Cheers Dickyknee .

Best of luck DickyKnee. When they hatch you will have to post some pics. A good size clutch for her first!
That is a good post Xmas present for yourself Dicky, some babies to play with and sell later.

One question , the container the eggs are in has some small holes in it , should they be sealed up or does it not matter ( its an old hatchy click clack ) .

Is 28C commonly used for diamonds?
I thought most pythons were cooked at 30.5C.
No holes is best, maybe get a new container and transfer the eggs over though?
It's only another $10.

The holes in the click clack are ok you just need to keep the humidity up. My suggestion is to weigh the whole box and weigh it every 2-3 days and if its lighter the only thing that can have changed is the amount of water so fill it back up to original weight. Also, the heat mat should be set at around 31. I think 28 is too low for a diamond.

Great but make sure you keep the humidity up and also take the lid off and wave the eggs thoroughly every 2 days or so to make sure there is enough oxygen because a build up of carbon dioxide will kill the babies.

Hope all goes well

Thumbs up

Congratulations Dickyknee!

Serpenttongue is Lord of the Diamonds, so if you ask nicely, he'll give you the very best advice.

Cheers John
