I was always told that if I wanted good and successful breeding, to not house my snakes together, and to slowly introduce them at the end of their brumation.
It's mentioned in a few books I've read, but at the same time, I've seen eggs produced by snakes who were housed together all year by their owners, who didn't realise they male & female or didn't expect them to breed.
