I have a DL2 in my incubator. It took a while, but until today it was stable between the 2 thermometers in the 28's.
Now, today it gets hot, its 34 deg outside, probably hotter inside, and the incubator has got to 31. Now what seems odd is this:
1. I took the lid off, let the thing cool down, it got to 26. Great, so I put the lid on and turn the thermostat and heatsource back on. Gets to 31 again.
2. If in fact it is this warm inside the incubator, why is a) the DL2 still pulsing heat (the light keeps flashing) and b) if it can't stay at the right temp, why is the DL2's alarm not sounding?
This is giving me the poos big time and I have a gecko due to pop any day now. I'd like to keep it between 27 and 29.5 if I can but it seems impossible.
I have a B2 and a B1 available to swap to see if I can get more accurate temps, however in my opinion the DL2 is the superior thermostat here.
HELP!!!

Also I don't think alarms sound unless the temp is 5 degrees over and has been present for at least 10min or something like that.

Well, the thing seems to be stable now - well, one thermometer showing 28.4, the other 29.3. I have a fan in it, but it seems to up the temps a tad when its on, so I'd rather not.
I think the problem might have been the ambient temps, as I now have had the aircon on and a floor standing fan pointed at it. I will have to be very careful in the hot weather, might even need a couple of cold packs handy to lower the outside surface temp of the esky on the really hot days.

You really need to try and have the incubator located in a spot that will never get up to your set temp.
With the fans mine has two running and I don't think it affects temps greatly at all, mind you they are 12v, if you are using a 240volt fan its a different story.

Now the room temps were a lot higher than that, so that would tell me the esky is well insulated from the outside temps - therefore one would think it would need considerably higher temps to raise it over the desired temps.
The other thing I'd like to know, is do the pulsing thermostats stop pulsing completely if the temps are above set temps? Even when showing 31 (given it must be set on 28 to be so stable initially), the thing was still flashing.....
They are both now on 28.3/28.5 so I can't complain about that. Just need to be careful in the heat.

It would have shot up a lot quicker on the hot day because the thermostat was plugged in and would have been adding heat even though ideally it shouldn't be and as it was even hotter outside, the incubator can't loose heat to compensate so there is only one way for the temps to go and that is up.

For $180 or so, they should well be designed to stop completely as soon as the temps raise above set temps -thats what a thermostat is for!!!
Might try a habistat next season and see how much better they are - they couldn't be much worse.

I find it best to mount the thermostat inside the incubator where possible.
