Question Does Anyone know where to buy Panel Heaters?

Hi all,

I need some help trying to locate anyone who sells "panel radiant heaters" in NSW?

I am building a new enclosure and am going to incorporate one mounted on the ceiling.

Any contacts would be much appreciated...
Cheers
scott.

They are on the "Heating" page on the Herp Shop web site. Radiant panel heaters are a much under utilised heating option in my opinion.

RADIANT ENCLOSURE HEATERS

  • Look great
  • Blend in well to the ceiling of most enclosures
  • Pre wired so no sparky required
  • Available in a range of wattages
  • No light covers required

These are Radiant Panel heaters that can heat up larger areas for reptiles, birds or animals. The front surface of these heaters are moderately hot so they should be fixed on ceilings where animals or birds etc. will not come into contact with the front surface.
50 watt, 270mm x 250mm - THD050
$110.00 each
160 watt, 540mm x 380mm - THD160
$190.00 each
240 watt, 800mm x 380mm - THD240
$240.00 each
320 watt, 1080mm x 380mm - THD320
$270.00 each
750 watt, 1150mm x 590mm - THD750s
$450.00 each

Herptrader - rumour has it these are being replaced by another product? Is this true.

I hope not as they are excellent!

You can actually buy them direct from the manufacturer for a little bit cheaper

True, but only works out cheaper if you buy 5 at a time.

I'd spend the few extra $$$ and get them from HerpShop as they come with mounting brackets which save alot of time and frustration having to silicone them in place and still have the risk of it coming loose in the future.

Free plug Brian!

I think I'm fast approaching 20 ordered from Herp Shop!!!

Someone claims they phoned you and this is what they were told and has opted to go with bulbs as a heat source instead. Was going to order 8 for him. Perhaps he just doesn't want to spend that much on heating, I'll talk to him. It adds up quickly when you have 8 enclosures to heat.

Good to know though. That clears that one up guys!

I spoke to Brian a few weeks ago, prior to JungleRob ordering 4 on my behalf, and he made no mention of any other product, and what a good product these heaters are.

It is worth remembering that the Herp Shop and Herp Trader are separate businesses. That said I maintain Brian's web site and as such am usually one of the first to know of product updates and changes.

Knowing the source of the panels I suspect it pretty unlikely that the product line will be withdrawn from the catalog any time soon.

As for the suggestion to use light bulbs instead, this does not sound right to me as there are other heating options that would get priority in this day and age.

Brian has confirmed in an email to me the panels will be replaced by something similar in the future and the ones he has at the monent will more than likely be the last.
