Doh

with the heatlh problem of some of my snakes I did a full inspection of all the animals and cages last night. Anyhow I have been wandering in an out all morning and I only just noticed ................ I left a cage door open last night. Fortunately both occupants are both pre shed and are not in a wandering mood, both stayed in the cage.
Boy, I can be lucky sometimes

Hey Fuscus,
That is amazingly lucky - go buy a lotto ticket!
Then give yourself an uppercut and remind yourself never to do it again!!! lol

I had one of my ball pythons escaped one time. I turned the house over looking for her. No luck. I decided to leave the cage open in case she decided to come home. After a week I had given up hope. Then one night I came in and she was laying in her cage looking at the open lid. I was amazed. I fed her and closed the cage, thanking my lucky stars. Next morning I went to look in on her, and she was gone again. ***?!?!?!

On closer inspection, I realized that her hid rock was rather heavy. It was one of those plastic cave type things. It had a little hole in the bottom, and she had squeezed herself into the hollow rock. Apparently she had never escaped in the first place. Amazing thing was that for over a week I had her cage wide open, and she never left.

This is a funny story. When I first got my Sand Monitor, I had him in a front-opening enclosure (sliding glass doors). There was a tiny gap at the bottom corner of one of the doors where it wasn't quite square (I'm no real handyman). Well I hadn't noticed it so I didn't bother putting a lock on the cage doors.

Well I went to open the door to the room and just saw a flash across the room. I looked up and saw the cage door open. After some negotiations with the reptile, I was finally able to put him back in the enclosure and the doors were then locked. Now I keep him in a much larger top-opening enclosure :-)
