Drinking problem?

My girlfriend asked me the other day why we never see my diamond drinking. I thought about it and, in my life I've had several different snakes and never once seen one drink from his/her water bowl.

Obviously he's nocturnal so we miss a lot...but was just wondering if anyone sees there snakes drinking?

Thanks

Funny you should mention that. I was thinking the same thing the other night LOL Must be secret snake business LOL I've heard the aboreal snakes from really tropical areas collect the dew from the leaves and hydrate themselves quite a lot through their skin, so that they don't have to go through the dangers of going to the ground for water. But then again I could be wrong LOL

I have seen my bredl's not only drinking from the bowl (once), but when I have lightly misted them to assist in their shedding, I observed my male drinking the water drops off his body.

Have witnessed most of my snakes having a drink.
They put the tip of their mouth in the bowl and just suck. You can see the base of the jaw expand as they fill up their mouth.
Almost like they are drinking through a straw.
Didn't really last anymore than 3-5seconds.
Is interesting to see.Wait and be patient sooner or later you will catch them in the act.

Well I gusess they get some moisture form the food they eat...

I have had my pair of coastals for about 2 or 3 weeks and have seen them both drink on a number of occasions.

some snakes will drink quite a bit at one sitting then not again for a week.(mine) dont worry, just provide freshwater always. sprinkle some water on its nose, then put it near the water, sometimes encourages a drink, specially if they tongueflick the water from their nose.

you can lead a horse to water but..........you know the saying.
are you worried its dehydrated? try a slighly wet mouse when you feed.

yes, snakes do suck. My Gallery has a photo of 'Chicken' drinking.
My drinking problem is that I get drunk on a shandy.

My snakes drink, but not as much as my missus (don't tell her I said that).

Just make sure they always have fresh water and leave it up to them.
