enclosure help

ive built a enclosure for our diamond python we are thinking of getting
i only found out its too big at the moment will use later down the track but i still have to finish it
need to know what type of lighting or heating i need to get and a supplier to buy from, im in the penrith area of nsw
the top of the enclosure i was going to use 5mm powder coated alloy with holes punched out and the lighting etc will be mounted on this, would this vetilation size be too big or should i only punch out holes half the roof size
the enclosure it self without the bottom cupboard is 1550mm tall 1220mm wide and 650mm deep
thanks

just a quick question.....
the door on the side, is that the only access to the enclosure?
if it is. i would suggestmaking it alot bigger. makes it easier to remove the python an clean.

as for heating and lighting.
IMO diamonds should have a uv bulb. i use a sylvania reptistar 24 inch fluroescent tube.
there are so many choices for heating know its really up to you.
Heat tape
heat mats.
ceramic heat emmiters
heat cord.
inncandescent bulbs.
the choice is your. i would just recommend useing a thermostat, makes life much easier.

you can buy vents from bunnings, and i would have the top ply instead of alloy as it will keep more heat in. there is a rep supply shop in windsor on macquarie st

Sure you aint building a toaster? Far too hot for a DP. One 100W bulb for a hotspot of 28 degrees is enough.

You only need a hotspot for a DP. As long as he can heat up when he wants to. The rest of the enclosure will be at a temp where he can choose. Just make sure he has a choice of hides in different temps about the place, where he is able to choose. I use 100w maximum in similar sized enclosures, but it is up to you.

one lamp is heaps i would put it on the back wall about half way down and off to one side
diamonds love climbing and will spend most of its time on the branches
put a vent down low as well this will help with circulation and that will help eleveate
skin problems. and yes much biger door as big as you can get . by the way nice looking enclosure
