|  | Regular Member | Join Date: Apr-08 Location: Cairns, Queensland Age/Gender: 32  | | | | Fluoro's are the only energy saving ones I know of. They are designed because they produce a lot less heat. In electrical terms anything that produces heat operates at a loss.
If you want to change to a fluoro (I personally like the white light of a fluoro over an incandescent bulb), you can always opt for a ceramic bulb as a heat source. |

have you been using ceramics? because then you wont be able to use normal globes due to it being a different fitting? just realized this.

Party globes are a different fitting to ceramic globes I'm pretty sure. If you're using a thermostat party globe will be ok, try get a red one it apparently cuts down on the visible light the snake can see but a recent thread on here is making me believe otherwise.

Go to coles and buy a normal light globe with screw in fitting this will be your heat, but it will emit light so get another URS one asap. Just take the old light with you to be sure the screw in size is the same? I'm sure its standard but maybe someone else can confirm.
