feeding a hatchling

I got a Spotted Python Hatchling on friday which was born on xmas day and has had the following feeds.

12-2-07 pinky - mice
15-2-07 pinky
20-2-07 pinky
25-2-07 pinky
04-3-07 fuzzy - mice
16-3-07 fyzzy - mice

My wife bought some pinky rats today and I am after some advise on when I should feed it next and how often after. Is there a recomended feeding plan?

depends on temps etc. I would see how long it takes for the majority of the lump (prey) to digest then wait 2 - 3 days after that. I usually feed my Anteresia about every 5 days days while still on small food items but once on bigger meals usually around 7 - 10 depending on animals metabolism and temps.

As this spotted has only been feeding on mice...I would be sticking to them....even my adult stimmys, childrens I only feed them mice. I suppose you have to go with what is available at the time.I just wouldn't want them to stop eating.
I only feed hatchys once a week. JMO!

We feed everything every 7 days, the hatchies get 2 pinkies or fuzzies, depending on the size of the snake and the size of the food, Adults get 1 large rat, however my Diamond adults only eat mice and they get from 5 to 7 mice a week.

Sounds like I should swap the pinky rats for fuzzy mice and stick with that for a while. If there are concerns of them to stop eating I dont think its worth the risk if it can be avoided.

if he can eat a fuzzy, just keep him on that, or if you dont have fuzzies you might need two or three pinkies in one go. 5-7 days seems to work ok for us

if you feed a snake with food anywhere along its digestive tract the new food item becomes the energy consumer making the old item somewhat stale. well thats my understanding on it anyway correct me if im wrong

Sounds like sticking with the fuzzy mice is the right thing to do.
