feeding break

Why do breeders say to leave it a day or two to give a juvie a rat if they have refused to eat one? daughters atherton was eating pinkies and decided to try a fuzzy(last night) she took it but didn't eat it so she won't try again until tomorrow. Kellie says it's so they don';t get used to the smell and not want to eat . Can anyone explain please? I jsut ge tconcerned as my coastal is easy to feed and just takes it quietly into her mouth and proceeds to eat it. We are both beginnners if you haven't already picked up on that point!! LOL

when i swapped mine form mice to rats i heated the prey up beacuse pythons have heat sensors under there lower lip with the exception of black heads and womas if its having trouble switching give it a new born pinky and when its just finished that put the fuzzy head in to its mouth and i will 9 times out of 10 keep eating and next feed try a fuzzy if it doesn't eat it just keep putting the head in the mouth it will some just take fuzzes

usually if a snake refuses it's feed it's best to leave a few days I've found cause it saves on stress, then again I'm on a little bit of a different topic here more talking about snakes that refuse due to being move to a new enclosure or just plain wont' eat not change of food item. Usually if you try to offer straight away they just continue to refuse but if you give it a few days they tend to be more keen to have another go. Hope that helps, wasn't explained well sorry.
