You will find everyone will have an opinion of their own, which is what makes things so confusing, but as time goes on and you get more experienced and you will form your own opinions and do things your own way.

I agree with Pixxie that the chart is very basic and does not cover any contingencies such as time of year (some will not feed during winter), if you are preparing for breeding, the snake is in its slough cycle and may not eat, availability of food, and also that a lot of rodent breeders call different rodent sizes different names.

A lot of people believe that Rats have more protein than mice and try to get Childrens species on to rats ASAP. I have never seen any documented proof that this is correct, however I do agree that one mice per week for an adult would not be enough. I feed my adult Stimsons a sub-adult/small rat.

However, for a newby just starting out, the guide will give them some guidelines until they get a feel for what they are doing and can adjust to suit the actual snake.
