My Young Stimi had a feed tonight.
I dangled the Pinky in and gave it a bit of a jiggle. She struck straight away. Then proceeded to Strangle it for the next hour before she even thought about eating it. Normally she is an eating machine strike and gone in side of 10 minutes but not tonight.
The pinke was a bit larger than normal but not to big and was it only 6 days from her last feed.
In the end she did eat it so all is well but have others had similar experiences?

Yeah it happens, it's particularly frustrating when you want to feed a snake two rodents and it takes forever to eat the first one.

Sometimes mine look like they are kissing and cuddleing the rat an that can go on for ages and they go from the head to the tail and back again can be a real pain but they eventually eat them. One thing I have noticed is the tempreture of the rodents when fed,the closer to body temp or a bit warmer the better weve found the response to be.If the tank is 'warmer than the rodent then they do tend to muck around a bit more.
Im no expert this is just our observation and experimenting with frozen rodents.

I have one Stimmie that strangles for about 10 minutes before eating, whilst my other, which was fed last night did not even constrict and just ate it straight away.
My coastals are different and will often do the same as Odessa Stud's, which can be very slow going. At least it is eating, unlike one of my coastals that did not eat for 3 months before finally eating two weeks ago, but since is refusing to eat again. This is very frustating.

Our maccie always constricts her food for ages, as do my coastals but our childreni is a wild thing, he has constricted to the point where his mouse is in 2 pieces many a time & if he doesn't want to eat he will still grab the prey & slams it all in 1 motion against the side of his enclosure. I love it, he has such attitude |
