Its a good idea, if any health problems arise feeding records can be quite helpful.

IMO it is very important.
Very helpful if the animal is ever taken to a vet for medical reasons.
Also informative when reading over them in the future, quickly shows any decrease or increase in appetite etc. And will let you know what time of year they lose their appetite completely in preperation for winter cooling.

i keep feeding and shed records just in an excel spreadsheet on the computer. havn't found it to be useful but i have never had a problem with my snake (12month old mac) and i think i will eventually build up a great data source in the future which could be looked back on

it take little time and i think in the event of something going wrong could prove invaluble

Also good if you have multiptles, especially when some don't eat and others do you don't have to try and remember when they were fed etc, when they shed etc etc.
And also as was pointed out good to show the vet if you have to!!

i keep a record of feeds and latest shed dates.... should probably keep all shed dates but i dont really think that is necessary? i also keep a measure of them to see how much they grow...., i dont have accurate scales so i dont keep weights....

Mickw,
here are two computer based programs that you can use to help you keep records of your snakes. The top link is to download a snake measuring program and the second link is to download the Herp record program.
Both are great little programs, made better by being free .

Hope they help

Cheers
Dave

I keep feeding, shedding and pooing records.

They are really helpful if you need to see a Vet but according to my Vet, very few people bother and that makes his job hard.

link not working

Hi nvenm8,

The link to the records programme, FreeHerp, is unavailable at the moment as the site is undergoing maintenance.

While trying to find a link that might work I came a cross a number of reviews for the programme and it is very popular. Hope the site gets up and running soon as I'd like to have a look at it. For now, I'll have to keep writing on a calendar.
