First Snake Rescue

Had my first ever experience of removing a snake this morning. I got a phone call from my best mates girlfriend when her mum found a green snake coiled around the curtain rail in her bedroom and as she put it "Im not going to touch!" So i scooted over there and found a gts sitting happily on the curtain rail. After a bit of scurrying about had him in a bag and took him/her about 5 mins up the road and let him/her go in some bushland.

I am not sure how big gts get but i would have said this oe was around 4ft long with a lovely yellow belly and some brightish blue flecks and marks along its back and a dark green upper body. I was really impressed with its appearance and it was a bit flighty but not half as angry as i was expecting! Once it had its head out of the bag and could taste freedom it was off in flash.

Quiet a fun little morning for me and i have attached a pic but the quality is pretty ***r as it was taken with my phone.

Not sure how big they get, but judging by the ones I've seen around here that's pretty big.

Beautiful snakes!

just doing a bit more reading on them and the epa website says that can grow up to 2m but average size is around 1m.

My reward for removing the snake was a handful of freshly made rumballs so i think it was a pretty good deal! haha

a green tree snake is different to a green tree python, i thikn they are part of the colubrid family (do correct me if im wrong!). They are non-venomous, otherwise i wouldn't have touched it!

there is some info about them on that link if you are interested.

not sure who is still interested in my little story but here is a better pic of the little fella. You can see the markings and colour a lot better in this photo.
