Unhappy Freighting Geckoes...How to safely??

Hi....was wondering what is the best way to freight the Geckoes l have just sold?
This is a first for me and lm a little worried about their health and safety .
What should l use to put them in for there flight from Melbourne to Brisbane?

hey
If your freighting with Australian air express they have a whole bunch of guidelines that you have to follow anyway, if you stick to them and make sure that your containers are dark they'll be OK. The guidelines are online somewhere I think

In a takeaway container with some lightly moistened shredded paper on the bottom to allow grip. Place this inside a timber box. This combinaton will not run you into dramas when you get to the airport. You will likely get a plethora of advice on what other containers you can "get away with" but if you want it to go smoothly - timber, timber or timber.

i do every thing like geckodan does but instead of a timber box i go to one of those cheap shops and buy a tub with a clip on lid drill 2 holes in each end and one in each side and use cable ties to lock it shut but before i do this i drill heaps of air holes, and AAE dont have any problems with this set up as it is very safe and no way of any thing geting out.

melbourne AAE would not like it at all.i took a pair of hatchy BHP's in one and they said you cant send them in that it is not safe it's one of the AAE rules, so i said ok and had to rush off to find a shop to buy a tub any way after i sent it i had to wait 45mins to pick up a python i had comeing in from QLD.so it got there on time and i whent to get it and it was in foam esky i said to the lady that i had been dealing with about it and she said its our rule dont worry about what other places do so i shook my head and left so i now use tubs or a wood box just so i dont have to stuff around.

It needs to be able to withstand 25 kg dead weight being dropped on it. Those that don't allow it are those that are following their own rules.

I have personally used 7L Plastic 'Click-Clack' containers with the handle joint smashed out and then I modify the hole. I have also used the 6 Can Polystyrene Eskies that ari describes.

You then put the animal in a container and place the container in the box. I then stuff the surrounding area with Newspaper or those 'packaging pellets.' Then put the appropriate papers or permits in side, put the lid down, seal it etc etc and off to the Airport.

Also, if there is any major flaws with my way, please tell me so I can adjust my freighting methods.
