the next two are of mussels, bit hard to tell in the photo but there generally much larger, darker and have a rougher shell than the clams
The clams are more interesting in that they tend to move around alot more

They should be fine with turtles, but be aware that the larval stage of Australian freshwater mussels (clams as you call 'em) is a parasite on fish...so they are not the best beastie for your aquarium if you have more than one! |

Most of the fresh water mussels produce a tiny larvae, smaller than a pinhead, that burrows into the gills and soft tissue of aus. native fish, after a period of a week or so the larvae burrow out of the fish and drop to the substrate of the water course, where they change into the shelled bivalve form we recognise as a mussel.
I really don't think they harm reptiles, and they don't seem to harm my archer fish to badly... |
