Sc*w the lady with the salad, its just a frog. They could have kept it on the plane, and released it in aus. Pr*cks.

Had it come back to Australia, AQIS would have seized it and it may have been euthanased anyway.

It upset me. But I'm okay now *sniffles*
I watched an "Australian Story" about a lady who found frogs in her stores produce. She decided to find out where the frogs were coming from by identifying them and then set up a system with a local trucking company to take them back to their original home areas.
The truckies would recieve the frog all packed up safely and take it to the locality where they returned it to the particular grower whos fruit and vegetables it was among.
The men were burly tough looking truckies and farmers - and they showed the farmer and the truckie looking on, smiling and saying "go frog" as they set it free.
It made me grin.
Em

The problem is that chytrid fungus, which is a major problem, can be easily spread by releasing frogs, when the EXACT location that the frog was on before is unknown. There is no easy way (but the CSIRO is developing it) to tell if a frog has chytrid. Often by the time the frog shows symptons it is beyond cure.

Organistaions such as FATS will pick up stowaway frogs, often from fruit markets, and quarentine them for a period of 3 months, and in that time they are treated as if they are contaminated with chytrid. After that period they are passed on to licenced frog keepers.

Yep Alex, 50m from original site is the surrent standard for releasing frogs.
