Fussy Ackies

My three ackies were eating like crazy until about two weeks or so ago when 2 of them didnt eat as much and then the last few days they didnt eat anything. I was offering them middle size woodies. Today i thought i might see if its them being fussy becaus i remember reading about Aslans ackie not wanting to eat woodies. I offered them medium crickets today and they went crazy for them. Never seen them want food so much in their life. I tried to give them woodies at the same time but they were completly not interested in them. Has anyone else worked out a way of getting them onto different food types? I really dont want to have to fork out for crix each week when ive got so many roaches available.

Thanks Oli

My Ackie still won't touch the Woodies and I have a colony breeding like crazy in the garage....

I must admit I have tried very little recently in ways to get him hitting the Woodies instead - what I did try (unsuccessfully) was not feeding him for about three days and then introducing Woodies - he ran up, gave them a lick....then ignored them... *shrug*

I am planning to try a heavy dusting on them as his crickets are generally dusted and I am hoping this might help trick him - and last resort, I will try grinding up a cricket or two and 'scenting' the Woodies...so far I have tried all different sizes of Woodies with no luck...

He eats roaches voraciously, spiders, has successfully taken chopped pinkies (a little hit and miss though) - but no Woodies...I am very interested to hear what some others have to add to the topic as well

Yea well these guys have been eating woodies pretty much since i got them. and lately they just havnt been interested in them. When ofered crickets though they went crazy. I have also given them pinkies which they seemed to love. A couple of meal worms, they ate a few but wernt really interested. I havnt given them any wild caught bugs.

Yea well they originally went off their food pressumably becaus of the cold. As they were young i didnt really want to put them through winter so i put in a ceramic globe and had a thermostat lying arround so i now have that hooked up for a bit of night time heating.

Well they hatched i think in january. I realise they would probably live (as they would in the wild) but I dont think it would hurt and it wasnt too much effort to put in.
