Zeph my DP got out of his viv last night and is missing. I can't believe I was so careless! I cleaned his viv yesterday and I mustn't have shut the lid properly (it opens from the top). I am so angry with myself and worried sick! I normally double check to make sure its shut because sometimes it sticks and looks shut but isn't.... I mustn't have done so yesterday and now my baby has gone! I feel so incompetent and like such an idiot... I just hope he turns up soon, it's meant to be hot here today and I'm petrified he'll go wandering and I'll never find him again!
I was out last night and got a message from my housemate telling me that he couldn't see Zeph in his tank and that it wasn't closed properly, I came home and tore the house apart. I slept on the couch (after thoroughly checking it first) holding a velvet rat tied to a piece of string, put flour over all the exits and blocked them with towels. I've checked under everything and in all the linen, etc. I'm scared he's managed to get out of the house - I live in a cottage and there's lots of gaps under doors, etc., not to mention that when he went missing the back doors were open so the dog could come and go as he pleased. Every time the dog barks I go running to see what it is, I've let the neighbours know he's missing, I've searched the backyard.
I feel so sick! I used to wonder how snakes went missing and now it's happened to me. Ugh! I love that little guy so much... I just keep praying that he's going to turn up alive and well. I'm such a bad "mum". I've called into work sick and off I go searching again... here's hoping he turns up. Keep your fingers crossed for me please!

Think about the situation like a snake. Ok im out, where will i travel, where are the places that look lie fun places to hide??? AShould be able to find it pretty quickly

I have mice tied to pieces of string attached to furniture in a few rooms of the house (ewwww), which I'll throw away soon and replace with fresh ones once it gets dark. I've searched high and low and put more flour down over all the doorways. The neighbours kids have been over helping me look. I've gone through all the linen and towels, my pantry, etc. I just hope he didn't get outside.
MoreliaMatt, he's 11 months old and around 3.5 feet or so I'd say.
This is the worst feeling in the world, I can't believe I was so careless. I'd do anything to gt him back alive and well. Melgalea, I hope I'm as lucky as you were and I find him somewhere soon.

Sleep in that room and if you are lucky you will hear the rustling of the bags when the snake goes after the mouse.
Good luck with it!!

i lost my stimsons python for over a year until one day there she was in the backyard, which she is now in a far more escape proof enclosure (as she was in a top opening cage before hand)
hopefully it doesn't take you that long though.

~behind pictures/mirrors hanging on walls,
~in lamp shades
~bookcases inbetween books, it is amazing how they can squeeze into teeny spots.
~If you have magazines, newspapers laying on coffeetables check in between them...

I understand you feeling so horrible but try not to be too hard on yourself....Please let us know how you go... | | | |
