Great Book!

Hi all,

I was sent this book from my brother who lives in Brisbane yesterday - a birthday pressie for last week. I'm not sure if many would have seen this book around, I hadn't. I'm always looking for a good book on snakes (particularly Aussie snakes) and this one I reckon is a real winner and I'm going to highly recommend it Here is one review on the book I grabbed off the net - can't wait to get into some bedtime reading

http://dannyreviews.com/h/Australian_Snakes.html

I've got to put this Quote in (fantastic reading):

Quote:
"It's not too hard to locate your transmitter-carrying water python Liasis fuscus, as Dave Slip shows (right), but how do you catch him again -- to recover the expensive transmitter -- once the study is finished? All you can do is to wade out in knee-deep water through the reedbeds, get a precise 'fix' on the signal (below) and then try and jump on the python before it gets away. It's not easy to grab a snake by feeling in murky water, and there's always the worry that the python has been eaten by a croc, and hence that you're about to jump on the wrong reptile. When it all works out O.K., the relief is evident (top right)."

ps. I'm not sure on the copyright regulations with reproducing the books cover - it's not for any other purpose than for recommending the book and making it more identifiable to people wanting to purchase it. PM me if I need to remove it.

Seriously, if you have more than a passing interest in the ecology of snakes then this is a worth while read.

I'm very sorry I must be blind as well because when Mick said it had been done already I thought when I read yours, it went along the lines of 11am not 11pm - what a doozey! I had a big night last night - things are a little blurry this morning!
