GREAT glass doors for enclosures!!!

Hi all, just thought I would share a great idea.
We have just built a large enclosure, and we used a second hand sliding glass window for the doors. Very cheap, and they work really well.
Aluminium windows, the track is great, very easy to clean, and even for a smaller enclosure, the sliding window comes out, so it is still very easy to clean!!!
Ours, we can walk into, so even easier to clean.
We have been building our own enclosures for a while, and its a pain to clean sliding glass doors! We will be using these more often!!!!

PS Enclosure not finished yet!!

Our doors are about 7 foot wide, and over 5 foot tall.
And only $80-00.
We were quoted between 4 and $600-00 for new glass and track!!

Beautiful enclosue, it's really big!!!!

Those of you interested in getting cheap glass. Ive made most of my enclosures, the best place to get glass that's real cheap........ROAD SIDE PICKUPS.....it's free. Lots of people leave it in window frames, glass doors etc. Give it a real good clean and you're set. All it needs is a real good clean!!! Another place, if you don't mind asking or sometimes getting a little dirty.....is sites where builders are renovating. I just picked up some glass and wood from a site that's perfect for what i want. Got permisson of course.

Have a look around, I've never bought one piece of glass for any of my enclosures. Will post a picture once I find it. Glass was obtained from roadside pickup out of window frame, lock was from bunnings (one of mates put it in for me), wood was from old boarding college renovation, light guard is chicken wire from roadside pickup, aluminium framework was roadside pickup. Basically this enclosure was free, the only thing I paid for was the thermometer, lock, nuts and bolts, vents (can't see in pic). JUST GIVE EVERYTHING A REAL GOOD CLEAN!!!

This is just an idea, I don't want to be hammered for something using second hand stuff.

Our local scrap metal dealer (Hornsby Scrap Metal) has aluminium windows in all sizes for good prices. Curbside pickup and building sites are cheaper, but you can't beat the selection at scrap metal. Also check local newspaper ads. We replaced all of the windows in our previous house for less than $1000 using ads and the scrap metal dealer.

We got the window from a second hand dealer in South Windsor.
These are not only cheap, I think the easy cleaning is the best bit!!
Zdogs, the enclosure is for our lacie, who LOVES it. He climbes up the wall no worries!!
And climbes in and out no worries.
