I am not sure how many of the APS members are aware of another site that also has a reptiles/amphibians classifieds section. Anyway the site is: http://www.petlink.com.au/
I have found this site useful in the past, however have never made any purchases through it. There was an add posted on the 06/06/04 for Indian Star Torts. These are mad little critters and my favourite tort......but correct me if I am wrong- they are definitely exotics. In light of the recent amnesty and increased public awareness of such issues, would you say to post and ad like that is gutsy or stupid or both??? |

Smart enough to have a hotmail account but will still get caught
At least the animals have a CITES rating, that means they proberly won't enter the freezer. |

| | | | I think the owner of the animals in question could be just plain naive and doesnt know any better. He most likely bought them at the pub cause they were "cool".
Shadow: the amnesty is over, but it was put in place to give owners of exotic (illegal) animals the chance to hand them in without fines or conviction on a strict "no names, no details" policy. But, if they chose not too, and are caught now well knowing that there was an amnest, i think they will get the book thrown at them twofold.
Cheers, Alan. |

I have no problem with not being able to keep exotics but I absolutely love tortoises.
Its probably a good thing that I cant keep them because I would not be able to control the urge to get more and more of the little fellas.

you all know b4 i was well informed about iguanas being exotic i posted a thing for iguanas on pet link but i have been getting numourous e-mails back asking for exotics but this one takes the cake
i wont post his name but read on :
Hi, Noticed your wanted add for iguanas "B_Girl". Was wondering if you had any luck sourcing any, people are pretty tight lipped about this stuff. I am also after some iguanas and other exotics like cornsnakes, boas, chameleons etc if you know of any available? I do have a pair of Indian Star tortoises if you saw my add on the pet forum-they are open for swapp for other exotics, birds (rare), or offers upwards of $2000.
is this a set up or is he just really dumb!!!!!!
