For your interest, I have installed a Habistat Reptile Radiator in an enclosure dimensions 1800mm long, 500mm high and 600mm deep. I have attached it to a Habistat dimming thermostat. The radiator has the cage which I purchased from the Herp Shop. Initially Brian thought that a dimming thermostat may not be compatible with the radiator and a pulse proportional may be better. I went with the dimming thermo to try it out as I could use it on another enclosure if it wasn't suitable. Everything is working flawlessly. I am getting ground temperatures under the radiator of about 34C. My room is mainly a constant 24C as it is air conditioned, so I don't know how low the temp would go if the ambient was a lot lower. I know Larks from here is using one and getting good temps at 400mm from the radiator at room temps of 10C. All in all these systems are much neater than lights or ceramics and only 75 watts and I may eventually change all mine over.

Awesome. I was wondering how they would go. Thanks for sharing. I use dimming thermostats on my 110 watt heat panels and they work well. Why are you using a cage around it? Does the surface get overly hot?

My 50 watt models surface temp gets to 80oC ,so im assuming that the higher wattage units would eclipse that surface temp. Very nicely done Fester.

I could not keep my hand on it for too long, it did get pretty hot. I suppose it would be OK without it as a reptile cannot grab on to it at least. I thought better be safe than sorry.

Hi Fester, Yes I agree they are great units. I'm running 3 of them at the moment but haven't done serious temp testing on them yet. I have one without a stat at all in a large lizard cage and, while the surface gets quite hot, it does a great job in very low temperatures and I am in love with them, lol. I reckon it's one of the best things ever getting Habistat products in Australia.

As fester mentioned I use these heat panels, I have for a while now and I highly recomend them as they are great.
I have measured the suface temp at 140C at full power.

Excellent, just waiting on mine turning up in the post. Looks like i might need to put a cage on it now if the temps are getting that hot on the surface.

I don't use the cage with mine, I don't think you need to if you mount the panel on the top of your enclosure, the snake doesn't have any way to rest against the hot surface.
They also come with screws and they are really easy to install.
