I got told to let my new edition settle for 1-2 weeks preferably 2 weeks before handling...Im just noticing that many of you people with new snakes seem to be handling them and taking pics straight away...
what do ya's think? |

| | | | hey, i got a childrens python bout 3 weeks ago. and i left her for two weeks before feeding her, then another week alone. got her out today with my snake hook just incase, and she was good as. really nice. but 3 weeks ago, she was ferral little thing.
in my opinion, i think leaving them alone for 2 or 3 weeks is in the best intersest for the snake, i dont agree with people handling them when they are new just for photo sake

theres no way i would leave my jungle for 3 weeks before handling him, his already crazy enough, and seems to be getting more and more placid every time i handle him. If i left him alone for 3 weeks i would get tagged about 20 times when having him out for 10 minutes. |

| | | yeah, jungles are a bit different.
when i had my carpet, i handled her since the first day, and she has always been a pleasure.
i just followed orders when i got this childreni, cause she was fiesty to start with. so i let her feed, and shed and settle. and it took 3 weeks adn now she is great. thats all. |

Whenever i get my new edition of Repiles Australia mag, i don't want to open it in case i crease the pages or get fingerprints on it. But after a while i just give in as i just can't resist. That's why i always buy two copies now.

Is it monthly?
When I get my snake I'm going to try and resist handling it until it settles but then again if its out and about exploring after 2 days or so...why not let it get to know you at the same time as its new home?
Hopefully by no means people aren't dragging their snakes from their hides after they've only been there for a day...well if I could make the rules that would prob be one of them...but that opinion might change after I actually experience it.

I was about to feed her, organised the rat and everything, went to feed her and she done a poo... so out she came, changed and cleaned up and put back in to feed... all the while having rat scent on my hands.... she didnt seem to give a damn | | |
