RE: Heat cords ?

We used a heat cord with our Woodies, and they ate the outer coating dammit! Now we can't use it in water areas(eg. rain chambers et). Just ordered another 2

I was thinking of just coiling it under the tub rather than in it.
Also thinking of coiling one between ceramic tiles slatey style for the frog tank, guessing the tiles would act as a heat sink when the thermo cuts it off, storing heat a while?
thinking of 4 meter 15 watt, anyone know how hot they get?

Yeah thinking of using our new one(s) in the froggie habitat rather than the Ceramic Heat lamp? Might be better methinks. Won't be putting one in with the Woodies again that's for sure. They eat the rubber/plastic surrounds. Bugga!

cords

I use them for a few different tasks as well and love em.
Had a 4m cord melt through the base of some plastic critter cages that were sitting directly on it - was using a B1 thermostat with probe inside one of the cages so that is something to lookout for i.e Make sure the base of plastic cages are packed up to the thickness of the cord if you're sitting them directly on the cord or better still have the cord set down into routed slots in the supporting surface as Bigguy mentioned.
Bye, Steve.
