Heat cords

Just a stupid question about heat cords - I am setting up my click clack for at hatchie due soon and I've just bought a few of those adhesive cord clips to run it under the outside of the base.

The clips are obviously designed for a thicker cord and I can double up the cord in each clip. As the cord is quite long, I was planning to zigzag it back and forth a few times under the warm end of the click clack. Will that cause any probs (ie overheating of the cord or something?) I have no idea of electrics etc so please be patient with me!

Heat cord should not cross over itself or be doubled up, it's a fire hazard

And outside the container is right for a plastic click clack isn't it?

HI
Do not double up the cord. what ever plastic clips you use is up to you, but do not run the cord together in the same clip, run the cord as an element 15 mm apart and that should be fine, connect the cord to a thermostat, from the thermostat to the main power use a safety cut off switch.
Keep the probe from the thermostat close at the heat source and set it as the temp you need.
Make sure with a thermometer that the heat is right dont just rely on the thermostat. remember they need a cool spot at the end of the cage.
hope that helps
cheers steve.

And the closer you run the runs of cord together the more heat.

or you can use silicon just a dab every 70 mm or so
that will hold it for ever but remember to let it air out

Use tape or silicon or small clips and it is fine to zig zag the cord but any bends must be a fairly large radius as the cord will overheat if it is kinked.
