Heat Globes

I have been using Oz Purple Night globes for the heat lamp in my snakes enclosure. I have had to change the globe nearly every 6weeks, sometimes even sooner. Is this normal??? or should i find a different brand of globes??? if so which brands or types would be recommended??? Any help is much apprecitated.

If you switch to a dimming thermostat it should prolong the life of your globes, regardless 6 weeks is a very short time.

I see they haven't improved any. Go for ceramics, no light emitted but they last forever

Use standard party lights, just make sure the entire bulb is coloured evenly(often the is a gap at the base where white light can escape).

There is a really good brand but i cant remember the name and they dont have the brand printed on the globes

Clipsal? They made some that were dipped in paint rather than the usual internal colouring. No white light at all just a faint glow.

Hey guys, just something to think about. The government has been looking a banning high wattage light bulbs I know it would be hard to enforce but may be worthwhile looking at alternative ways to heat enclosures.

are you touching it? cos the problem prob is that your touching it, 'dont' touch it' when you screwing it use a tea-towel or something like that. touching reptile lights puts fingerprints on it and it gets wrecked for some reason(hmm but maybe this is only for inferred light globs).

I had an Oz Black ceramic that lasted less than 3 weeks. Not happy.

I brought it online, so it' not worth the postage and hassle. Have also had the Oz purples last only a few days. I've got a Reptapet nightglow which has been going for over 6 months now, only on a cheap on/off thermostat too. It emits almost no light.
