There seems to be a lot of debate as to where you should place the thermostat and heat lamp(s) in an enclosure. I was personally tol to have the thermostat dead centre on the back wall of the enclosure and have the heat lamp in the middle of one end of the enclosure. This seems to work quite well however my current enclosure is only 600mm high. I'm looking to make an enclosure that is a lot higher and i'm considering having the heat lamps closer to one end instead of in the middle of one end. I'm also considering having the thermostat dead centre on the back wall again although some people thin it should be lower than that and possibly in line with the heat source. I would really like to hear what other people are doing and what other peoples opinions are. Thanks

Personally I feel that heat sources should be placed at one end of an enclosure to create a thermal gradient (that is hotter at the end with the heat source and cooler at the end without it) If you place the thermostat probe in the middle of the enclosure it obviously has to be set for this medium temperature range.
Digital thermometers with dual probes can be used to monitor the hottest and the coolest end to make sure the unit does not over heat or underheat. A non contact digital thermometer gun is also great for checking and monitoring different positions within the enclosure for cold and hot spots.
