use a OZblack heat emitter, i find that those work the best, a lamp will pump heat down in a direction but a heat emitter is basically like a heater. I find they are exceptionally good, the life is rated at something like 25,000 hours i have had one going for two years now.

A 60w OZ Black would set you back about $35

Cheers
D

50 watt infa red globe, prob about 10 -15 $$$ suspended above the tank, so it can be adjusted...
i achieve a basking spot of 30-32 deg, depending on weather and still allows for a cool spot.
my tank is 50 x 25 x 35 high

if ya want to look at it at night, get a blue or red globe. if not just get a ceramic. a 60w would do.

the infa reds good for that, u can view your rep at night and it wont affect the night time behaviour.
only problem is the red light coming out the window, the neighbours think ive started up a brothel....
mind u theyed prefer that to a big snake living next door
